The Background

Despite being boxing's longest reigning current world champion, a frustrating five-year reign, tainted with inactivity and a failure to unify world titles, has left fight fans seeking more from Stevenson.

Almost a year on from his previous WBC light-heavyweight title defence, fearsome KO artist 'Superman' finally has another challenger in two-weight world titlist Jack - who has defeated George Groves and Nathan Cleverly in recent years - and many have predicted Stevenson's downfall.

Whether Las Vegas native Jack can indeed stand up to Stevenson's shuddering power remains a key factor, but 'The Ripper' is adamant that he is better than ever after stepping up to 175lbs. The Sweden-born boxer, a former WBC super-middleweight king, is though untested against the elite in his new weight class as he takes the trip to Toronto.

Stevenson turns 41-years-old later this year and the old boxing adage of age catching up with you could ring true, although the Canada-based Haitian has made short work of his last three opponents.

A brutal stoppage of Cleverly secured a WBA 'regular' light-heavyweight belt for Jack, which he since relinquished, but victory over Stevenson would blast open a division, including the Russian trio Sergey Kovalev (WBO), Dmitry Bivol (WBA) and Artur Beterbiev (IBF).

Don't blink! Because it's only going to take one punch to knock him out. I am looking for the knockout. It's 12 rounds and I just need one punch. He will stay on the floor. I may be 40 years old but I'm hungry. My promoter tells me, 'Knockouts sell. Knockouts sell.'

I asked for this fight. He didn't ask for it. I called him out before I even moved up. He's one of the best so I'm all about fighting the best. This is my sixth world champion back-to-back. He has nothing that scares me. I fear no man. He's one of the toughest guys in boxing but I'm a tougher guy.

Badou Jack

What fellow light-heavyweights say...

I hope Jack beats him and gets the title because he's more motivated and busier than Stevenson. Stevenson hasn't fought for a long time and kept his belts. It would be easier for me to make a fight with Jack.

Sergey Kovalev

I do think Jack will win simply because he has been more active and is fresher. Stevenson does have that backhand that can finish a fight at any point, but I am just leaning towards Jack.

What the experts say…

Jack's defence is too good and he doesn't take any chances. Stevenson can be wild and wide open at times, and he will slow down as he goes through the rounds. That's when Jack will start to get to him, winning maybe a late stoppage, certainly points.

Jack needs to be smart, sharp, try and have a higher tempo, especially in those opening rounds. I just think he will get through and eventually age will play its part. Jack wins, via late stoppage.

I'm going to go for Stevenson, because he's the more explosive fighter. He carries big firepower and Jack can be vulnerable. I don't think Stevenson's age will be a factor. He is 40, but hasn't really got the miles on the clock. I think he'll break Jack down gradually and get a late stoppage victory.
