Zizou Bergs vs Miomir Kecmanovic
Head-to-head: First meeting
This is the first ATP quarterfinal for Zizou Bergs, who had his breakthrough at an event of the same category in Antwerp three years ago, but hasn’t managed to break the top 100 since. His forehand loves these altitude clay courts and this is a decent opportunity for him. While Miomir Kecmanovic’s upside isn’t that high, his base level is though. He already defeated one flashier, yet inconsistent opponent in Dominic Stricker. He might be able to repeat it here.

Yannick Hanfmann vs Hamad Medjedovic
Head-to-head: First meeting
Hamad Medjedovic is an amazing prospect and he’s made sure to take the opportunity that fast clay events like this present for him. This is his first ATP quarterfinal, but he’s not one to get scared and he’s got the weaponry to help him find the free points. However, Yannick Hanfmann loves these conditions too. Runner-up in 2017, the German is having the best season of his life at the moment and who knows, maybe this time he actually goes all the way?
Prediction: Hanfmann in 3
Pedro Cachin vs Jaume Munar
Head-to-head: Munar 6-0
The head-to-head looks awful for Pedro Cachin, but let’s remember he basically opened a completely new chapter in his career around March last year, beating all his previous achievements by a country mile. Jaume Munar last played him in the very event that started Cachin’s prime and while he did that comfortably, he’s not quite playing like he was back then right now. Especially on these fast clay courts, the Argentinian might have the perfect opportunity to finally score a win against Munar.

Juan Pablo Varillas vs Albert Ramos-Vinolas
Head-to-head: Ramos-Vinolas 3-1
Albert Ramos-Vinolas seems to have declined quite a lot this year and even dropping to the Challenger level recently, he just wasn’t a title-winning threat at all. This quarterfinal is already pretty huge for him then and he managed to edge out Lorenzo Sonego and Fabio Fognini in deciding sets. He used to dominate the head-to-head against Juan Pablo Varillas, but the Peruvian won the last time they played in Lyon two months ago. At altitude, he’s likely to beat the veteran again.
