A letter of apology sent five years ago might have helped smooth out the rocky relationship between former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher and his one-time quarterback Vince Young.

If only Young had spelled Fisher's name correctly.

Fisher told PaulKuharsky.com on Saturday he still has the letter, but never responded because he couldn't be sure it came from Young.

"The letter came from the University of Texas, and I had no way of knowing if it was [really] from him. It came from the athletic department. But my name was spelled incorrectly," Fisher said.

In a 2013 interview with NFL Network, Young said he sent the letter to apologize for being "immature and not paying attention and not listening," among other things after the Titans selected him with the third overall pick in the 2006 draft.

The team released him in 2011 after six disappointing seasons.

Last year, Young told Sports Illustrated he never heard anything back from his former coach.

Things might have turned out differently if Young had sent it to Jeff Fisher instead of Jeff "Fischer."
