The NCHSAA released its playoff pairings for baseball Monday. First-round games begin today, with the higher-seeded teams hosting matchups.
The brackets are broken up into East and West regions, with all area teams in the West.
In Class 4-A and seeded No. 13, West Forsyth (20-6) plays No. 20 Olympic (11-11) at home today at 6 p.m. The Titans are coming off a loss in the Central Piedmont 4-A Conference tournament championship to East Forsyth, which is the No. 2 seed in the West and has a first-round bye.
No. 11 Reagan (15-8) also has a home game against No. 22 Mooresville (13-13) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. No. 18 Davie County (10-11) is the only team from the Northwest to have a road game, taking on No. 15 Richmond (17-7)today at 7 p.m.
In Class 3-A, No. 15 Mount Tabor (14-12), which was runner-up to No. 6 Southwest Guilford in the Piedmont Triad 3-A regular season and conference tournament, has a home game Wednesday at 7 p.m. against No. 18 Hickory St. Stephens (12-9).
In Class 2-A, No. 32 North Wilkes (9-13) has an away game Wednesday at 7 p.m. at top-seeded North Lincoln (21-2). No. 17 Wilkes Central (12-12) also has a road matchup against No. 16 Newton Foard (11-9) today at 7 p.m. No. 8 West Wilkes (20-4), No. 5 Forbush (20-5), No. 13 North Surry (19-6) and No. 10 Ledford (22-3) all have home games. West Wilkes plays No. 25 Brevard (12-10), with North Surry taking on No. 20 Lincolnton (11-8) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. No. 28 West Lincoln (10-15) travels to Forbush, and No. 23 Walkertown (15-8) drives to Ledford on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
Third-seeded North Davidson (19-4) — the Central Carolina 2-A Conference regular season and tournament champion — is also at home against No. 30 Wheatmore (12-10) today at 7 p.m. No. 29 West Stokes (12-13) is away at No. 4 Smoky Mountain (18-3) on Wednesday at 5 p.m., with No. 18 West Davidson (19-6) at No. 15 Anson (12-7) today at 7 p.m.
In Class 1-A, No. 1 East Surry (21-2) received a first-round bye, along with No. 8 East Wilkes (11-12). No. 12 North Stokes (16-9) is the only team at home against No. 21 Highland School of Technology (12-13) on Wednesday. In addition, No. 22 South Stokes (9-13) has an away game at No. 11 Cherryville (17-8) on Wednesday at 6 p.m., and No. 18 Mount Airy (10-9) has a road matchup against No. 15 South Stanly (14-10) today at 6 p.m.
The NCISAA also released playoff pairings today, with three area schools receiving first-round berths.
In Class 3-A, North Raleigh Christian Academy (8-11) travels to No. 7 Forsyth Country Day (19-7) today. Calvary Day (6-14) has a home game against Salem Baptist Christian (9-8) in Class 2-A.
