Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge provided the Yankees with all the runs they needed Tuesday.

Stanton blasted two home runs and Judge added a late RBI as New York defeated the Red Sox 3-2 in the team’s series opener at Yankee Stadium.

Stanton put the Yankees ahead early when he blasted a pitch from Boston starter Drew Pomeranz over the left field fence in the second inning. He pushed New York’s advantage to 2-0 with another solo shot in the fourth.

Boston (25-10) plated a run in the fifth and tied the score on a Mookie Betts triple two innings later. But, in the bottom of the seventh, Judge singled home a run to give the Yankees the lead for good.

New York starter Luis Severino allowed two runs and six hits while striking out 11 in six innings pitched. Aroldis Chapman picked up his eighth save of the season to secure the victory.

The Yankees (25-10) have now won seven in a row and 16 of their last 17.

Studs of the Night

Mariners pitcher James Paxton delivered the best start of his career against the Blue Jays on Wednesday night. He threw the second individual no-hitter of the season, striking out seven and walking three as Seattle registered a 5-0 victory.

Aaron Nola struck out 12 and allowed just one run in seven innings to lead the Phillies to a 4-2 win over the Giants.

Duds of the Night

Orioles pitcher Dylan Bundy surrendered four home runs in the first inning against the Royals. He failed to record an out, threw 28 pitches, only 13 of which were for strikes, and allowed seven earned runs. Kansas City went on to plate three more runs in the inning.

Mets reliever Hansel Robles allowed two runs and recorded just one out against the Reds, inflating his ERA to 5.23 in 2018.

Highlight

Brewers reliever Brent Suter sent a pitch from Indians starter Corey Kluber well over the center field fence for his first career home run.

Mariners (20-14) at Blue Jays (19-17) 7:07 p.m. ET — The Blue Jays will look to rebound after they failed to pick up a hit Tuesday. They’ve lost four of their last five. Meanwhile, the Mariners can pick up a series victory and move to seven games over .500 with a win.
