Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has been hugely impressed by Arshdeep Singh’s death bowling in IPL 2022 so far. Though he has not been amongst the wickets — he has kept the lid on the scoring in the final overs. Against CSK, he gave away just 8 runs bowling the 19th over with Chennai needing 35 runs off the last two overs.

Arshdeep Singh’s two overs at the death went for just 14 runs with CSK needing over 12 runs per over at that stage. Reviewing the match on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra lauded the youngster for his maturity with the ball.

“You have to focus on Arshdeep’s bowling as much as MS Dhoni’s batting, how well he is bowling. Whether Hardik Pandya is standing there or MS Dhoni, he doesn’t get scared against anyone. He doesn’t go away from his game plans at all. In my opinion, he has been absolutely stellar,” said Chopra on Singh.

He further said that Arshdeep Singh is up there with the best in terms of death bowling like Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, and Lockie Ferguson amongst others.

“You have Lockie Ferguson, Shami, Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada – you get all of them together, Arshdeep Singh is doing the best death bowling at the moment. He keeps bowling the yorkers one after the other at one place, he uses that angle.”

Chopra also praised Kagiso Rabada for bowling an equally important 18th over in the contest of the match. He gave away just six runs in that over and picked up the wicket of Ambati Rayudu to turn the match in Punjab’s favour. In the end, CSK lost the match by 11 runs

“He (Arshdeep) bowled a very good over and left a lot of runs for the last over – 27 runs. Rabada’s over was also important, Mayank’s captaincy was also very good, he took the game deep,” Chopra concluded saying.
