The Los Angeles Angels are in a funk for the second time this season and are now fourth in the American League West after being swept by the Houston Astros over the weekend. Noah Syndergaard gets the start for LA on Tuesday, and he’s put together an average season with a 3.86 ERA and a 5-6 record. Syndergaard is yet to pick up a road win this year, and Miami’s starting pitcher isn’t a matchup Los Angeles will be looking forward to.
Sandy Alcantara gets the start for the Marlins, and the right-hander is the current favorite for Cy Young Award at the majority of sportsbooks. He leads the MLB in innings pitched (115.1) and carries the third-best ERA in baseball (1.95). Los Angeles’ best chance of tallying runs on the ace will be via a Mike Trout or Shohei Ohtani home run, but Alcantara has allowed just six homers in 16 starts.
The Marlins have won each of their last five games and are 7-2 in their last nine home contests. The Angels are just 4-15 in their last 19 road games, and we predict they will struggle to tally multiple runs on Alcantara. Therefore, we predict the Marlins can beat the Angels on Tuesday night.

New York’s probable starter is Jameson Taillon, who has a 9-1 record and 3.32 ERA. Taillon doesn’t have amazing stuff, but New York’s bats are always hot when he’s on the mound. The Yankees average 5.8 runs per game and have won seven straight Taillon starts. Although they were shut out on Monday, we expect their hitters to bounce back.
Quintana’s last three starts at home ended in a 5-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers, a 7-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants and an 8-7 win over the Chicago Cubs. New York’s lineup is much better than all three of these squads, and they are 20-7 against left-handed starters this season. We’ll back the Yankees to get back on track and pick up a win on Tuesday night.
