A woman has died after falling from an escalator railing at a Kenny Chesney concert at the Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, according to police.
The incident happened on Saturday at around 10:52 p.m. and police are continuing to investigate the woman's death. Her identity has not yet been released.
"Denver Police Department is conducting an outside death investigation at 1701 Bryant Street," the police department tweeted on Saturday.
"The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim's ID and cause of death.
"If circumstances are deemed suspicious, we will update information on this thread."
In a later tweet, the Denver Police Department added: "An adult female guest at Empower Field at Mile High was sitting on an escalator railing, fell to the concourse below, and died as a result of the injuries. This is being investigated as an accidental death."
According to a Denver Post report, the woman died at the end Saturday's concert. Police spokesman Nate Magee spoke to the Denver Post and said that he did not know whether alcohol was a factor but added he believes the woman was not pushed or jostled before she fell.
"To my understanding there was none of that, it was just an accidental fall, I don't think anyone pushed her or anything like that," he said, citing witness accounts of the incident.
Chesney also released a statement to the Denver Post and expressed his condolences.
"I was devastated to learn of the loss of someone after our show," he said.
"There had been so much joy, so much heart coming from the people of Denver last night and to hear this is heart breaking.
"Life is precious. Sharing music brings us together and that love we share makes us so much more.
"For the lady who came to share that love, there are no words. For her friends and family's loss, I grieve with them and for them."
The Empower Field at Mile High Stadium also issued a statement following the woman's death.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the woman involved in the tragic incident that occurred at the end of Saturday's concert at Empower Field at Mile High.
"There is nothing more important than the safety of our guests, and Stadium Management Company is in communication with the Denver Police Department as it investigates this unfortunate situation."
