Gennady Golovkin will attempt to redeem the only loss in his boxing career when he takes on rival Canelo Alvarez on Saturday in a much-anticipated trilogy fight for the super middleweight championship. Their 12-round main event tops a boxing card from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and the Canelo vs. GGG main card is set for 8 p.m. ET. Alvarez's four major super middleweight titles are on the line in the third matchup between the combatants, who have already fought two memorable classics. Their first meeting in September 2017 was scored a draw, while Alvarez squeaked by with a majority decision in the rematch a year later.

Alvarez is a -500 favorite (risk $500 to win $100), while Golovkin comes back at +380 in the latest Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin 3 odds from Caesars Sportsbook. The over/under for total rounds completed is 10.5 with the over favored at -215 and the under fetching a price of +175. Before locking in any Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin III picks, make sure you see the boxing predictions and betting advice from SportsLine expert Peter Kahn.

A three-time Boxing Writers Association of America Cus D'Amato Manager of the Year nominee, Kahn has his finger on the pulse of what's going on inside and outside the ring. As one of boxing's most influential managers, Kahn has guided numerous world champions and currently sports a roster of 15 fighters. His company, Fight Game Advisors, manages former undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr., current female undisputed super middleweight champ Franchón Crews-Dezurn and rising junior middleweight star Xander Zayas.

Kahn is an astounding 34-9 picking fights for SportsLine since boxing returned following the pandemic-induced hiatus, netting a profit of $3,972. His notable wins include telling SportsLine members in February of last year that his strongest play on the Canelo (-4000) vs. Avni Yildirim (+1500) fight was to take the favorite by stoppage in the third round at 5/1 odds. Alvarez delivered, and those who followed the play made $500 for every $100 wagered. Anyone who has followed Wise's combat sports picks is way up.

Now, with Canelo vs. Golovkin III in sight, Kahn has studied Canelo vs. GGG from every angle and identified the best value in the boxing odds. You can only see his confident prop bets and money-line picks at SportsLine.

Canelo Alvarez vs. GGG preview

Many boxing observers have questioned whether Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) would have ample motivation for a trilogy fight against Golovkin. This is because Alvarez has scoffed at the notion in recent years, saying he had nothing left to prove against Golovkin and there was no unfinished business with his rival.

However, the unified super middleweight champion evidently changed his mind for several reasons. For one, he says he is now motivated to get a knockout in the trilogy fight because he has grown tired of Golovkin's relentless complaints about the scorecards in the first two fights.

Moreover, the rivalry turned personal for him because Golovkin continually asserts that Alvarez is a dirty fighter. Alvarez tested positive for a banned substance in between their first and second fights, delaying the rematch, and Golovkin has made sure this isn't forgotten. Alvarez has maintained the positive test stemmed from eating tainted meat in Mexico.

"Look, for me, business is always there for me," Alvarez told CBS Sports this week. "So for me, it's personal for all the (trash) he has talked. He talked before so, for me, it's personal but I'm going to take that as motivation and do my job."

Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) recently told the media he was pleased to see Alvarez lose to Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title in May for numerous reasons. For one, he believes Alvarez became stagnant and took his opponent for granted, and he believes the same dynamic could impact Saturday's trilogy. "Arrogance is his biggest weakness... and arrogance is punishable," he said.

Golovkin also noted he was pleased to see scorecards go against Alvarez because he believes a pro-Alvarez bias impacted the scoring in their first two encounters. All three judges scored the fight 115-113 in favor of Bivol, though most observers saw it much more lopsided than that. Even so, Golovkin says he was pleased that the decision loss at least tears at the fabric of invincibility that Alvarez seemed to carry through a handful of close decisions that went his way.

"It's encouraging that the judges are not loyal to Canelo anymore. They don't feel this burden of his image," Golovkin said. See who Kahn is backing right here.
