Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle D.J. Reader has been added to the injured reserve list. An MCL injury will keep Reader out for at least four weeks, as is required by the IR designation. Apparently, the team hopes he can return in six weeks.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Reader began his career as a Houston Texan after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He played there for four seasons before being signed to a four-year, $53 million deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.
He played just five games in 2020 after being placed on injured reserve with a quad injury. Reader played 15 regular season games in 2021 as the Bengals made a run to the Super Bowl. Last year he had two sacks and 43 combined tackles.
