A lawsuit filed against the Catholic High School League and Archdiocese of Detroit claims a boarding school transfer rule originally made in 1984 discriminates against black athletes 'due to the color of their skin.'

A lawsuit filed against the Catholic High School League and Archdiocese of Detroit claims a boarding school transfer rule originally made in 1984 discriminates against black athletes 'due to the color of their skin.'

A lawsuit has been filed against the Catholic High School League (CHSL) and the Archdiocese of Detroit (AOD), claiming an “overtly discriminatory policy” involving transfer students that would prevent them from participating in sports at the school.

The Detroit Free Press reported on Wednesday that the lawsuit was filed by Marko Law, PLLC, in representation of three students from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s have been named as plaintiffs in the case. Joseph Hines, Mark Savoury and Brandon Williams are represented by attorney Jonathan R. Marko.
