Just three days before Christmas, eight area families with children received $200 gift cards to shop at Walmart.
Former Tennessee Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck provided the funds and was the one to gift the cards. Bulluck lives in Brentwood and is passionate about local philanthropic initiatives. He was one of the principal investors at Just Love Coffee Cafe, a coffee house that was started to help new families through adoption journeys.
When I was playing [football], I always said that if I had the opportunity to give back, I would because at 12 years old, I went into foster care,” Bulluck said. “Certain situations happened with my mom, and I didn’t grow up with my dad so that being said, I went and lived with a friend’s family, and that was cool at first living with my friend’s family, but you always want to be with your family no matter what the situation is.”
Bulluck lived with his foster family until he was 18. He privately shared other life stories with the children in attendance to inspire them.
“I just want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas,” Bulluck said. “Regardless of what anybody is going through, crack a smile and try to see the good at the end of the tunnel. If you believe it, you will achieve it. It’s not easy. It’s a journey but learn to love and appreciate yourself.”
