New Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton purchased a home in a gated section of the Belcaro neighborhood for $4.55 million on March 6, according to property records.
Payton, who signed a five-year contract for $18 million per year with the Broncos, is the NFL’s second-highest-paid coach behind New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
The 6,000-square-foot home within the gated Belcara community has four bedrooms and six baths.
The main floor features 11-foot ceilings and a white oak floor in a herringbone pattern. The kitchen includes an oversized island and a glass wine wall holding hundreds of bottles.
The two-story home includes an elevator and a primary suite with a fireplace and dual closets.
Raymond Development Group developed the home and neighborhood. Dawn Raymond, a Kentwood Real Estate Cherry Creek realtor, was the listing agent and also listed as the owner. The home originally was listed for $4.6 million.
Rachel Sartin with Corken + Company Real Estate Group represented Payton.
Payton was previously the head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 2006 to 2021. In Louisiana, he lived for a time in a home in Mandeville, which led to him becoming the lead plaintiff in 2009 in a class-action lawsuit against a drywall manufacturer. In 2019, Payton listed a condo he owned in New Orleans for $2.3 million, according to the local newspaper, which also reported in 2021 that he was buying a unit in the Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences then under development in the city. He also bought a home near Dallas in 2012 and listed it for sale in 2014.
Payton declined to comment when reached by email.
