The Crimson Tide was without one of its best defenders late against the Volunteers.

Alabama defensive back Terrion Arnold has been ruled out for the rest of the Alabama-Tennessee game with an upper-body injury. The designation was announced in the third quarter on CBS with the Tide leading 24-20.

Arnold has been a key piece of Alabama’s secondary in 2023 starting at boundary cornerback for the second straight season. Arnold would also fill in at STAR when needed. He had four total tackles, including one for a loss, against the Volunteers.

Alabama featured Jaylen Key and Trey Amos off the bench to account for Arnold’s loss. The Tide defense contained the Volunteers’ offense to help spark a 17-0 second-half run.
