The Detroit Red Wings are on a roll and will welcome Patrick Kane into the fold tonight. Kane, signed to a one-year, $2.75 million contract nine days ago, will make his Red Wings and season debut, six months after undergoing hip resurfacing surgery. The 2016 Hart Trophy winner will be skating with former Chicago Blackhawks linemate Alex DeBrincat. J.T. Compher likely will be the center on the line.

The Red Wings have won three in row and are 6-1-0 since returning from Sweden. They have scored five goals in each of their past three games and rank third in the league in goals per game (3.79). Their power play has keyed the recent surge, going 10 for 31 the past seven games.
Ville Husso will start in goal for Detroit.
The Sharks are 7-7-1 since starting the season on an 11-game winless streak (0-10-1). They rank last in the NHL in goals per game (2.00) and goals-against per game (4.00). Tomas Hertl leads San Jose with seven goals and 21 points.
Filip Zadina, the Red Wings’ top pick in 2018 (sixth overall) will play against his former team for the first time, if he’s in the lineup. Zadina opted to walk away from the final two years of his contract, at $4.56 million, in the offseason, seeking a fresh start and better opportunity. He signed for one year at $1.1 million with San Jose. He has struggled, with just three goals and two assists in 21 games. His minus-19 rating is tied for the worst in the league.
