MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - The South Carolina High School league issued an updated realignment last week after a series of appeals from schools across the state.
The new realignment is set to take effect in the 2024-2025 school year and will feature a population multiplier for students outside a school’s attendance zone, as well as new district additions. The league realigns athletic classifications every two years to reflect the respective student populations.
Some of the changes include all high schools within the Horry County School District being placed in an expanded Class 5A. Meanwhile, the newly formed Atlantic Collegiate Academy will compete in Class 2A.
A full list of Grand Strand and Pee Dee schools and their new classifications can be viewed below.
The league said region placements are expected to be completed and sent out to schools by Jan. 26.
