The Celtics are wrapping up their seven-game home stand and it appears they could be shorthanded when they host the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Jrue Holiday has been added to the injury report as he’s listed as questionable with a right elbow sprain.
Notably, Jaylen Brown is no longer on the injury report as he missed Sunday’s win over the Grizzlies with low back tightness. C’s coach Joe Mazzulla said he didn’t expect it to be anything long-term, and that is indeed the case as Brown is good to play Thursday.
Holiday has dealt with the right elbow sprain in recent weeks as he’s occasionally missed a game or two due to the injury. But it doesn’t appear anything too serious as his absences are usually just one-offs. It appears the C’s are being cautious with Holiday in general to keep him fresh throughout the season.
The Celtics bring in their league-best 38-12 record into Thursday’s game. It’ll be a rematch of the first-round series last year as the C’s beat the Hawks in six games last year. Atlanta has struggled this season and is 22-28, but it’s won four of its last five games. So it could be a challenge for the C’s on Thursday.
