Undefeated Tigers finally set to play: Lineup for Game 1 of doubleheader vs. Mets

The Tigers (4-0) are the only undefeated team left in baseball.

The Tigers (4-0) are the only undefeated team left in baseball.

The Detroit Tigers will use the same lineup they planned to use on Tuesday for Game 1 of their traditional doubleheader against the New York Mets on Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers (4-0) and Mets (0-4) play the opener at 12:10 p.m. at Citi Field. The second game will start about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.

The Tigers and Mets have endured back-to-back rainouts after wind and rain soaked the New York area this week.

The Tigers now stand as the only undefeated team in baseball.

Shortstop Javier Baez, catcher Jake Rogers, outfielder Mark Canha and infielder Andy Ibanez will be available off the bench in Game 1. The full lineup is below.

On the mound, Tigers right-hander Casey Mize will face Mets right-hander Adrian Houser. It will be the first start of the season for both pitchers.

They’ve both had to wait a while to get started, but Mize has really had to be patient.

Mize, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft, last pitched in a regular season game on April 14, 2022.

The Mets’ lineup is below.
