LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A fall tradition is returning to Shawnee Park this week.
The annual Juice Bowl parade and games will be held Thanksgiving morning. For the second year, the festivities will begin with a parade at 9 a.m. starting at Dumesnil Street and Southwestern Parkway. The parade will travel along Southwestern Parkway to Shawnee Park at 4501 W. Broadway.
According to a news release, the parade will feature local organizations and special guests.
The Juice Bowl games will start shortly after the parade ends.
"I'm excited to host the second annual Juice Bowl Parade for the community on Thanksgiving morning," Louisville Metro Councilwoman Donna Purvis, D-5, said in a news release Monday. "Please bring your family and friends to cheer along the parade route, and then join us in Shawnee Park for fun and games."
It originally started at Chickasaw Park with only a handful of guys and no equipment. Now, it's a full-on tournament at Shawnee Park, including men and women of all ages playing football and flag football.
The Juice Bowl has been celebrated annually since the 1950s.
