Real Madrid issued a brief statement this morning explaining why Karim Benzema hasn’t traveled to Munich for the Audi Cup tournament. According to the club, the player has a muscular injury in his right leg. The brief communiqué reads: “After undergoing exploratory tests today by the club medical team at the Universitario Sanitas La Moraleja hospital, the club has established that Karim Benzema has an injury to his right hamstring muscle and will undergo a period of observation”.
Benzema is experiencing a difficult pre-season campaign. He picked up an injury after the Manchester City game and played no role in the match against Inter Milan. He recovered and played in the AC Milan game. This latest injury rules him out of the Audi Cup and the French striker is likely to miss the weekend trip to Norway where Madrid play Valerenga on Sunday, August 9th.
