The Rockets donated the money they made from selling tickets to their Game 6 watch party at the Toyota Center to the Santa Fe Strong Memorial Fund. The team announced that the event was sold out on Saturday afternoon.
The Houston Chronicle‘s Jonathan Feigen reported that 10,000 tickets were sold, adding up to $100,000 at $10 each.
The fund will help cover funeral and medical costs for those affected by the tragedy that happened at Santa Fe High School last Friday when a gunman killed 10 people and injured 13. Additionally, it will help support the Santa Fe Independent School District, per Texas First Bank.
Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted his appreciation for the fans.
The watch party also includes a performance by rappers Lil’ Flip and Puntin.
The Rockets and Warriors will face off in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals at Oracle Arena. It’ll air on TNT at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday.
