HS girls win and divide the losses
The Women’s Basketball Team at Yellow Springs High School lost to Newton High School on Saturday, November 20th, opening the 2021-22 season. According to the website of the Metro Backeye Conference, which Yellow Springs is a member of, the final score for the non-conference contest was 45-37.

Bulldog remained in the lead until the fourth quarter, when the Newton team, who calls themselves Indians, scored 22 points.

Yellow Springs scored 15 points, 5 assists and 8 rebounds for Senior Angie Smith. Junior Corinne Totty, 12 points, 2 assists, 13 rebounds. Senior Aaliyah Long Show, 9 points and 5 rebounds. And freshman Tiger Collins, 1 point and 3 rebounds.

The Bulldog returned to the court on Monday, November 22nd, playing against Cedarville High School and taking the lead with a final score of 48-43.

The bulldog’s high scorer was Smith, with 32 points, 3 assists and 8 rebounds. He also scored Totti with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Long show, 6 points, 3 assists, 5 rebounds. And freshman Joselin Herring, 2 points and 2 rebounds.

After a break of almost two weeks, the team will then face another non-conference opponent, the Missi Shinawa Valley, on Saturday, December 4th.

HS boy suffers a loss
In the first official match of the 2021-22 season, the Yellow Springs High School Varsity Boys team lost in a non-conference contest with Greenon on Friday, November 26th. According to the Metro Buckeye Conference website, the final score for away games was 51-44.

The score was 16 points and 7 rebounds for Senior De Andre Cowen. Senior Nate Curtis, 10 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds. Senior Cameron Harris, 10 points and 1 rebound. Freshman Javas McNair, 3 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds. Freshman Jason Knemeyer, 3 points. Junior Eli Erich had 2 points, 5 assists and 11 rebounds.

The bulldog was then scheduled at home for another non-conference game against a local Trojan horse in the southeast on Tuesday night, November 30th. Results were not available at press time.

Bulldog gets in the lane
Bulldog played against Middletown Christian Eagles in the opening round on Monday, November 22nd. According to the website of the Metro Backeye Conference, which Yellow Springs is a member of, the final score was 2,014 pins for Eagles and 1,519 pins for Bulldogs.

Max Sturgeon scored the highest in Yellow Springs, with 190 pins in the first game and 179 pins in the second game, for a total of 369, averaging 184.5. Other players who conclude the team include Isaac Grushon, Krishan Miller, Stephon Royalston and Brady Baker.
