Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The Spurs were riding high there for about 36 hours after beating a short-handed Lakers squad at home, but they got knocked back down pretty quickly by the New Orleans Pelicans, who couldn’t miss a shot on their way to a 146-110 blowout win. The offense, which had been improving, wasn’t present during the Sunday afternoon mauling of the Silver and Black, as they got turned every way but loose by the high flying goony birds from the Crescent City.
Tonight, they face Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, who are in second place in the east, and look like they’re getting even better and healthier as the season goes on. There’s no mercy rule in basketball, but if this game goes like expected, the Spurs might be seeing a lot of Giannis’s brother Thanasis in the second half.
It’s still going to be fun to watch (trust me), because Victor Wembanyama is the most watchable player in the NBA, and he’s going to do something amazing to watch. You will need to watch the game to see it, and I’ll be right there with you, cheering him on.
Game Prediction:
Giannis and Victor will get into a contest to see who has the biggest Eurostep move. Victor will win easily.
