Spring in Seattle is a gift: with blooming and brightening, a promise of our region’s best-kept secret (summer!), and a welcome relief from perpetual gray.

It is also, most notably for some, the start of the Mariners’ season.

Opening day for Major League Baseball is Thursday, with the Mariners opening the 2024 season with a home series against the Boston Red Sox. The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.

Here’s what to know about going to the Mariners’ game at T-Mobile Park.

How do I get to the stadium?

For fans driving to T-Mobile Park, the Mariners list three parking garages to choose from: Mariners Garage, Lumen Field Garage and Union Station Garage South (farthest away but the cheapest of the three). There are also parking lots and garages in the neighborhoods surrounding the stadium (central business district, Chinatown International District and Sodo).

There are more than 150 free bicycle parking spots in the Mariners Garage. Additional bike racks are available next to the garage on the west plaza and on the Centerfield Gate Plaza on the north side of the stairs.

Bicyclists should avoid chaining bikes to parking meters, trees or other objects, the team wrote in its webpage.

Public transportation is an efficient and cheaper way to get to the park. The Stadium and International District/Chinatown light rail stations are a 10- to 15-minute walk to the ballpark. Free parking is available in lots at the Angle Lake, Tukwila International Boulevard and Northgate Link light rail stations, Sound Transit wrote in its webpage.

The ballpark is also accessible by ST Express buses and several Metro routes. Fans will arrive at the King Street Sounder Station and walk about half a mile to the closest ballpark entrance.

For those taking Uber or Lyft, the stadium encourages use of the rideshare lot, which is located southeast of the ballpark (less than a five-minute walk from most gates).

Fans using taxis can go to the Home Plate Gate at the northwest corner of First Avenue South and Edgar Martinez Drive South.

Colman Dock, also called Pier 52, is less than a mile from T-Mobile Park, for fans hopping on and off a ferry.

What are the new food options?

The new food options for this season include the popular crab pizza from Seattle-based MOTO Pizza in section 314. At the Walk-Off Market, fans can get the Double MitchWich, which features two different halves of a sandwich inspired by Mitch Haniger and Mitch Garver.

At Tamari Bar in section 133, new to T-Mobile Park, fans can get dishes like katsu curry rice, curry doughnuts dip and French ginger ale.

Can I bring a bag inside?

There’s nothing like the pit in your stomach when you’re walking up to T-Mobile Park and realize you brought a regular-sized, non-clear bag. Know the following rules about what is actually allowed beforehand, so you can avoid ditching your bag in a bush.

Fans can bring in clear plastic or vinyl bags no larger than 12-by-6-by-12 inches. One-gallon clear plastic zip-top bags are also allowed.

Fans can bring in small clutch bags that are not clear plastic or vinyl as long as they’re no larger than 4.5-by-6.5 inches.

Security must be able to see inside the bag, the Mariners wrote in its webpage.

Can I bring in food?

Fans can bring outside food in single-serving sizes. Baby bottles are also allowed.

Can I bring in a blanket?

Yes, you can bring a blanket!

Can I exit T-Mobile Park and come back in?

No, once you’re in, you’re in. Fans are not allowed to re-enter the ballpark once they leave.

Non-sealed water bottles, metal bottles, aluminum bottles, glass bottles or any bottle larger than 32 ounces is prohibited. Leave the Hydro Flask, Stanley cup or Yeti at home.

What is the security procedure at T-Mobile Park?

Fans pass through metal detectors to enter the ballpark, and, if necessary, a secondary screening with a handheld metal detector.

It is not necessary to remove cellphones, car keys or coins from pockets.

Fans who cannot undergo a metal detection search for medical reasons will be screened with the handheld wand.

Can I bring a stroller or a wheelchair?
