OGC Nice's new coach Francesco Farioli has obtained his UEFA Pro coaching certificate at the ripe old age of 34.
The Italian was brought in to replace interim coach Didier Digard over the summer - despite the fact that he is young, had never coached a Ligue 1 Uber Eats side before and, above all, didn't have his coaching licence - but now his credentials are in place.
Farioli, who had already obtained degrees in sports science and philosophy, spent the last ten months completing his UEFA Pro qualification at the Italian Football Federation's technical centre outside Florence. The course, which included master classes from the likes of Marcelo Bielsa, Luciano Spalletti, Rafael Benitez and Maurizio Sarri, ended a few days ago with Farioli orally defending his graduating thesis.
It's fine!
Weighty matters, especially as his club - much as Reims did last season with Will Still - was paying a fine of €25,000 each time he helmed his team in Ligue 1 Uber Eats!
The OGC Nice directors' first fine-free match comes on Friday 15 September as Les Aiglons travel to the Parc des Princes to take on reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in their Round 5 clash.
