HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football and cross country teams open their respective 2022 seasons, while the SLU volleyball and soccer teams host their home openers during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The No. 16/17 SLU football team will travel to face in-state foe UL Lafayette Saturday at 6 p.m. in Lafayette.
The Southeastern men’s and women’s cross country teams will open their season Friday. The Lions and Lady Lions will travel to New Orleans to compete in the UNO Cross Country Opener. The women’s 4,000-meter race is scheduled for 6 p.m., while the men will tackle the 5,000-meter course at 6:45 p.m.
Fresh off a perfect start to the season, the SLU volleyball team (3-0) hosts Jackson State in the 6 p.m. home opener Tuesday in the University Center. The Lady Lions then heads to Stephenville, Texas to compete in the Dr. Pam Littleton Classic.
Southeastern opens the tournament against host Tarleton State Friday at 10 a.m. SLU then faces Prairie View (10 a.m.) and Tennessee State (1 p.m.) Saturday.
The Lady Lion soccer team (1-1) opens up its home schedule with a 7 p.m. contest versus Southern Friday night in Strawberry Stadium. SLU then heads to South Alabama Sunday for a 5 p.m. match.

Saturday’s football game, Friday’s soccer match and Tuesday and Friday’s volleyball action will be televised on ESPN+. The SLU gridiron matchup at UL Lafayette can also be heard on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM.
