Opening Night Preview - Senators at Hurricanes

The Canes’ 2023-24 season starts tonight against the Ottawa Senators

At long last, the 2023-24 Carolina Hurricanes will hit the ice in tonight against the Ottawa Senators.

The Canes will host the Sens in PNC Arena for game one of Carolina’s latest push at the Stanley Cup. The Hurricanes lineup for opening night is as follows:

Carolina will be without Andrei Svechnikov to start the regular season as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in March of last season.

On the bright side, game one offers an opportunity for Canes’ offseason additions to see their first meaningful action of the season. Michael Bunting headlines that group of additions, bringing plenty of “sandpaper” as well as talent to Raleigh from Toronto via free agency. He’s joined by former Flyer Brendan Lemieux in the duo of new forwards.

Game night also features Tony DeAngelo’s return to the ice as a Carolina Hurricane. After an tumultuous year in Philadelphia, TDA rejoins the Canes looking to replicate his success as a gritty power play QB that had him humming in Raleigh two season ago. He’s joined by former Bruin Dmitry Orlov for the new additions on the blue line.

Frederik Andersen will likely get the start in goal with Antti Raanta joining along for this season’s goalie duo.

Here’s how to keep up with tonight’s action:

  • Time: 7:00 PM ET
  • Location: PNC Arena - Raleigh, NC
  • TV/Streaming: Bally Sports South, Bally Sports App, Bally Sports+
  • Radio: 99.9 The Fan, Hurricanes App
