We won’t be watching a battle of two goaltenders with .930 save percentages. It’s not Jake Allen and Logan Thompson getting the starts, but Samuel Montembeault for the Montreal Canadiens and Adin Hill for the Vegas Golden Knights. With that matchup, the edge goes to Vegas in goal as Hill has outperformed Montembeault in the early going as the Habs netminder is still trying to find last year’s form.
It seems that Mike Matheson is going to able to go tonight as he took up his spot on the top pairing at practice, but remains a game-time decision for this one. His lower-body injury was said to be a minor one, and hopefully not something that will get aggravated by playing in this contest.
The Canadiens will need to avoid the slow starts that have plagued the team in recent games, forcing them to climb out of holes to earn hard-fought wins. The Golden Knights aren’t the type of team to let you recover from such a deficit, so the Habs will need to be ready for the fight from the opening faceoff.
