It’s matchup of former conference rivals as Georgetown visits Rutgers tonight in the final Gavitt Games. There hasn’t been much connecting the two programs since their last Big East meeting in 2013. That victory, led by another big game by Otto Porter, was the Hoyas 11th straight after a 1-2 start in the league in 2013. Georgetown’s longest Big East winning streak since was a four game streak in 2015.

There’s been a lot of talk - too much talk - about Ed Cooley’s return to Providence this season. The RAC - yes, I’m still calling it that - is another venue that might be bringing otu the boo birds for Georgetown’s new coach. Back in July, the Rutgers Rivals site listed tonight’s game as a chance for fans to get out their frustrations over possible Cam Spencer wooing. Spencer, of course, isn’t at Georgetown and is instead at UConn. His third school in three seasons.

As far as tonight’s game goes, Georgetown should continue to try different lineups as this season is more about growing for the future and less about results. (We can discuss how we got there another time). Maybe expect a change in the starting lineup or some new rotations as last time out the Hoyas were completely undone by a poor effort on the glass and an total inability to slow down one player. During the lead up to the season Cooley said that players wouldn’t play unless they could defend. Let’s see if that holds.

Feel free to leave your comments before, during and after the game!
