- Mullin likely to stay at Wrexham for promotion to League One.
- Focus should be on helping Wrexham secure back-to-back promotions.
- Future decision hinges on achieving promotion this season.
EFL Pundit and former England international Carlton Palmer has said that he thinks Paul Mullin would not want to leave Wrexham, with promotion to League One looking likely.
Mullin has been with Wrexham for the last three seasons, being a key cog in their National League promotion last season.
He scored 38 goals in 46 National League games last season, whilst he also scored 28 goals in 39 league games the season prior.
This season he has taken the jump up to League Two in fine fashion, scoring 16 goals and getting five assists in 31 league games so far.
The Red Dragons are currently chasing back-to-back promotions to League One, with Phil Parkinson’s side currently sitting in the automatic promotion spots in third, three points clear of the play-off places and three points off of top spot.

Palmer believes Mullin will stay with promotion almost a guarantee
Palmer exclusively told FLW: “It’s hard to look at Wrexham not being promoted this season. They are looking at a record back-to-back promotion, they are well in the hunt for that. One of the players that has been impressing again for them is Paul Mullin.
“He has got 17 goals in all competitions this season in 29 games. He is ambitious at the age of 28, but there is a project going on at Wrexham, and I am sure he wants to be involved in that. I will be very surprised come the end of the season if Wrexham were not promoted for the second consecutive season, and Paul Mullin is an integral part of what is going on at the football club.
“I would be very, very surprised. The owners have very deep pockets, so he will be well paid and like I said, Wrexham are on a journey, and the owners will go again this summer, once Wrexham are promoted. I do not think it is an issue or a problem for Paul, Wrexham will just be happy if he can keep continuing to score the goals to help them get promoted this season.”
Mullin should focus on promotion before deciding his future
Whilst Mullin’s future may be in the air and he may be thinking about what he will do if they fail to achieve promotion, al he should focus on is trying to get promoted.
It would be a magnificent achievement for the club to achieve promotion back to the third tier of English football at the first time of asking, and so Mullin should be putting all his energy into making that happen.
It is very tight at the top, but Wrexham do look very likely to be promoted due to their three-point gap between themselves and MK Dons in fourth, along with the fact that MK Dons have played one game more than Wrexham.
If Wrexham are not promoted though, Mullin’s future may be in the air as he may feel he is now ready to play in League One again, having last been in that division in 2020 with Tranmere Rovers.
