Chicago is coming off a rare loss, albeit it to a very potent team, when they fell to the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday. Along with a defeat in their previous game on Saturday, the Sky have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season, though they were on a six-game win streak before that. They still sit atop the league standings with a 21-8 record, one game ahead of the Aces, with both teams having already clinched a spot in the playoffs. Their offensive weapons continue keep on clicking despite the recent skid, as Kahleah Copper leads the team in points-per-game (14.8), with the legendary Candace Parker (13.6) right behind her.
The Liberty are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive with just eight games remaining in the regular season after Friday night. They are also playing their first game in six days, following a big win last Saturday. Yet, they remain in 10th-place in the WNBA, and are 1.5 games back of the Phoenix Mercury and Atlanta Dream, both are tied for the last postseason position coming into Friday night. That win last weekend for New York ended a five-game losing skid for the Liberty, though they are going to need to do a lot of work to get back into playoff contention.
This will be their third meeting of the season between the two Eastern Conference squads. Chicago handled New York in their first meeting back in early May, while the Liberty pulled off a stunner in Brooklyn last Saturday.
