J.J. Watt's first hole-in-one* reignites one of golf's most-heated debates

The NFL star's latest athletic accomplishment has golfers everywhere weighing in.

The NFL star's latest athletic accomplishment has golfers everywhere weighing in.

J.J. Watt has just about every individual accomplishment possible on his NFL resume, from winning Defensive Player of the Year three times to even being named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2017. But now, the future Hall-of-Famer can also claim the ultimate golf feat as he begins to enjoy retirement. Well, sort of.

On Monday, Watt shared video of him plucking his golf ball out of the hole for his first-ever hole-in-one. There was just one small catch: It came on a par-3 course.

Watt was well aware the conditions of his ace* would draw heavy scrutiny, adding a "Does a hole-in-one on a par 3 course count?!" caption to the clip. Not surprisingly, he reignited one of the game's most-heated debates in the process. But before we get into that, let's let J.J. enjoy his moment, which was made even more special by the fact he was playing with his parents:

Great stuff, J.J. And way to get out in front of this issue.

As expected, most of the responses were positive in Watt's favor, including Justin Timberlake saying, "HELL YES!!!! Meet me at the bar!" J.J. hanging with J.T. sounds like a good time. There were also people saying it depends on the yardage of the hole, and one person pointing out that it should count because he hit the shot over a water hazard. Interesting.

For those replying that it doesn't count, we'd love to see them say it to the 6-foot-5, 288-pound legend in person. Regardless, we're guessing Watt isn't too concerned about the haterz right now. Go have a day, J.J. And if you pick up a large bar tab, that always helps your case.
